The Ex Files - 4. Hamed Namouchi

The Ex Files - 4. Hamed Namouchi
Hamed Namouchi, remember him? Not exactly a fan favourite, but Alex McLeish swore by him and rewarded him with a long run in the team. But where is he now?

The Tunisian started his career in France with AS Cannes. He was only a youngster when with Cannes and only made one league appearance, but Rangers seen potential in him and brought him to Ibrox on a free in 2003.

Namouchi made his Rangers debut in January 2004 as a substitute in a match against Hibernian. He played a lot of games under then manager Alex McLeish, including all games in Rangers' Champions League campaign of 2005/06.

Portugal legend Luis Figo gave him high praise and said that of all Rangers players, Namouchi was the one that impressed him the most. Incoming manager Paul le Guen didn't agree with him however and sold him to French club FC Lorient in the summer of 2006.

Namouchi had made 34 league apperances for Rangers, scoring 5 goals. He picked up a winners medal in 2005. Paul le Guen didn't fancy him though and moved him on.

He spent three seasons with FC Lorient before being sold to German club SC Freiburg. His time there however was not successful and he has now moved back to French with second tier club Grenoble.

So there you have it, if you ever wanted to know where 17 time capped Tunisian player Hamed Namouchi is, he's at Grenoble.
