Rangers' Scottish Championship season continued with a win against Hibernian, not only to end the visitors' long unbeaten run but to also stamp the Gers' authority on the league, at Ibrox on Monday.

Storming back from a goal down, Rangers were two-one up by half time eventually seeing out a four-two win despite losing Halliday to a second half dismissal to end the 17-match unbeaten run Hibs had been on.

Hibernian threatened to beat Rangers again, as they had in the last meeting, when Cummings put the visitors ahead at the midway point of the first half. A Henderson effort had been blocked but this fell to the right man with Cummings lofting the ball over Foderingham as he looked to close him down.

But Jason Holt grabbed a first half brace to swing the game in the Gers' favour by the break. His first one came, which was deserved at the time, when Fyvie lost the ball with Waghorn picking out Holt who did the rest. With his second coming shortly before the break, aided by a deflection off Hanlon to beat Hibs 'keeper Oxley.

With the midway point of the second half arriving sub Nicky Clark gave Rangers some breathing space. Shiels, also on like Clark, put him in and he made no mistake with his volley. A hammering, similar to the one earlier in the season, looked on....

After Halliday had been dismissed, when he reacted to a Fyvie challenge on him, Hibernian might have thought they could possibly get something when Malonga pulled a goal back late on as the Hibs sub profited from hesitation in the Rangers defence but Waghorn ended these hopes with a last minute solo goal to seal it.

That 21st-goal of the season so far for Waghorn ensured the points and saw Rangers take a three-point lead, with a much better goal-difference, into the New Year when the Gers will look to put a minor mid-season wobble behind them and kick on!
