Vital Report - Rangers 1-0 Hibernian

1 - 0

Attendance: 49,220

Rangers' Scottish Championship season continued with a win at Ibrox against Hibernian on Sunday.

That winning feeling is something that remains with Rangers with the unbeaten run, in fact the winning run, continuing under Warburton to start his reign as Gers boss! This one-nil win, thanks to Tavernier's latest goal too, sees it six in a row him become the most successful boss to begin a spell with the club in years!

No repeat of the six-two drubbing a month ago, a much tighter affair however the outcome was the same....a Rangers win, with Hibernian coming under pressure early on from a poor backpass that McKay couldn't make the most off, with Waghorn heading over the bar too when he should have left Oxley beaten.

A chance did come Hibernian's way though when a sliced Foderingham clearance dropped to Boyle but he took too long and the Hibees' chance was lost.

Celtic loan signing for Hibernian Henderson, obviously coming in for abuse, offered a threat for the Hibees during the afternoon and had some chances he couldn't take with one ball into the box finding Cummings but his effort was blocked by Wallace, with him looking likely to break through.

It remained nil-nil at the break however both sides threatened once more to change this before the interval with Waghorn seeing a shot cleared off the line by Gray with the best chance of all coming to Cummings, he found himself in but the Hibernian man didn't connect with his effort straight at a more than happy Foderingham.

Hibernian 'keeper Oxley made a fine save to keep out a Holt effort with Fontaine needing the Gers 'keeper to do likewise but Foderingham shouldn't have really had a chance when Cummings created a two-on-one chance. Not the best of balls to Henderson, however his effort was high over the bar to the jeers!

That miss cost the Hibees the game with Tavernier (66), from what seemed an impossible angle, managed to bend a freekick into the top corner of Oxley's net to put Rangers ahead midway through the second half.

A late equaliser was threatened but on the whole the Gers saw out the lead without too much fuss, Miller should have wrapped up the win with a second but couldn't finish another good Rangers move, not that it mattered as one-goal was enough!
