Tavernier's opener was cancelled out by Chopra but within minutes Waghorn made it two with further goals from Holt and Miller leaving Rangers in control by half time, a later Miller second rounded off this win.
What a start it's been to life for Tavernier (4) since he was signed from Wigan Athletic with the right back getting his third goals in four-matches since his summer signing as he smashed the opener into the top corner after Law played him in early to give Rangers the lead.
A couple of minutes later though Alloa were level when Chopra (7) volleyed home from a Holmes chip over the defence to the experienced striker however unlikely the comeback win on the Challenge Cup last season Alloa weren't coming back with Holmes then bringing down Holt two-minutes later for a penalty. Waghorn (9) made no mistake and Rangers were ahead again.
Wallace, now officially confirmed as the Gers captain, couldn't add to his goals tally but it was his effort that 'keeper McNeil couldn't hold with Holt (39) following up to make it three with Tavernier setting up Miller (43) to net another poachers finish two-minutes before the break to kill off the game.
It was plain sailing for Rangers in the second half with Tottenham loanee Oduwa getting on and showing some skills as the Gers coasted to victory.
The ball ended up in the back of the Wasps' net a couple more time but these efforts were disallowed however when Miller (85) grabbed his second with five-minutes this wasn't ruled out with a five-one win secured.
On the early season evidence, and things can change, it'll take a good team to stop Rangers from taking up a place in the Scottish Premiership at the end of the season wont it!
Did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer the most in this five-one thrashing of Alloa?
