Rangers celebrated their 140th birthday in front of just short of 50000 supporters at Ibrox. Legends from the 50s and 60s, cup winners cup heroes, 9 in a row heroes and more recent heroes such as Michael Mols and Lorenzo Amoruso came onto the pitch at half-time, introduced by Rangers fan and former player Andy Gray who himself played a part in nine in a row.

It was a wonderful celebration for the fans but there was also the small matter of a third division match against Scottish Football League's bottom club Stirling Albion. Rangers were out for revenge after the minnows handed them their only defeat of the season so far earlier in the season.

Stirling Albion had Rangers worried again, the first half was goalless, Kevin Kyle coming closest when he hit the post. It was the 59th minute before the light blues made the breakthrough, David Templeton marking his full return from injury with a tap in from McKay's cross.

Andy Little scored from close range in the final minute to make it safe for Rangers. The other highlight of the match was a substitute appearance from sixteen year old Tom Walsh. The latest youngster coming through from Murray Park.
