Report: Hamilton vs Rangers
New Douglas Park

This is going to be a very short report because I have to be honest and admit this is one of the dullest games I have watched in my life. It was so ironic that such a dull game produced such a brilliant goal.
Nikica Jelavic produced a moment of magic just before the interval when he scored directly from a free-kick. Other than that, Rangers really struggled against a team bottom of the SPL and already as good as relegated. I guess though, at this stage of the season, the three points are the important thing, but Rangers really need to up their game with tough games coming up against Aberdeen, Dundee United and Celtic.
Rangers were lucky not to go one down when midway through the first half, Steven Davis blatantly brought Dougie Imrie down in the box. The striker took the penalty himself but it was low and lacked power, and McGregor only had to guess the right way to save it, which he duly did.
There were very few highlights. Maurice Edu tested Cerny with a long range effort in the first half which was brilliantly save by the birthday boy. He couldn't keep it out though and Jelavic followed up on the rebound, but again the keeper made a superb save to deny the Croat.
The big Croatian was not to be denied though and just before the break he fired in a free-kick from the edge of the box after he was fouled by Accies defender Mensing. It's been a while since Rangers scored from a free-kick, hopefully Jelavic could be our new free-kick specialist.
Rangers hung on for the 1-0 victory and moved within two points of leaders Celtic, who themselves only beat St Mirren by the same scoreline on Saturday. A tough match against Aberdeen at Pittodrie follows on Tuesday night. Hopefully Rangers will up their game for that one, as we know Aberdeen will certainly up theirs.
