Shambolic Gers scrape draw at Fir Park
An embarrassing display from Rangers saw us somehow manage to escape Fir Park with a draw this afternoon.
We were a disgrace - especially in the second half - and despite a reasonably bright start, Motherwell dominated.
We almost took the lead early on when Sasa Papac led a fine move which almost saw him get in -front of John Ruddy in the 6 -yard box and put Gers in front.
John Sutton spurned a golden opportunity towards the end of the first half when Moutaouakil`s tame cross in the box found it`s way to the English striker, only for the ball to bounce off of him tamely and go out for a goal-kick.
Kenny Miller then fired a good chance over from 18-yards.
But after the break, despite Walter`s habit of delivering firm half-time team-talks, it was all Motherwell. The Rangers players were shameful - No effort, no fight, no heart. The introduction of Naismith and Novo on 60 minutes made a difference for all-but ten minutes and from then on, Motherwell utterly dominated.
Controversially, Dougie McDonald gave a penalty to Motherwell with minutes remaining, which looked rather soft. Bougherra was then dismissed for dissent there after. Luckily, McGregor made an excellent save from Jim O`Brian.
The final whistle blew and frankly, we should consider ourselves lucky to have gained a draw.
This was one of the worst displays I`ve seen from Rangers in many a year, we`ve played much better away from home and lost.
A winning mentality was developed towards the end of last season which saw us bring home the title despite the best efforts of the officials in Scottish Football.
Some of these players need to realise that the form they mustered up at that time needs to be their minimum performance level.
