More Of The Same This Weekend For Murty

More Of The Same This Weekend For Murty

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has spoken of his delight at double wins over Partick Thistle and Ayr United, but now he wants more of the same from the Hamilton Academical match.

With eight goals scored in the last two games, we face an Accies side that has lost all four of their games in 2018 so far, and Murty's challenge to the players was simple - make that five.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media to preview this weekend's match, Murty's focus was on keeping our momentum going as we go into a key stage of the 2017/18 campaign.

'The way you continue that positivity is by putting good performances in, but by getting results as well. So we want to go there and get a positive result. We created lots of chances against them last time and I didn`t think we deserved to lose, but we did lose and you get judged on results.'

Murty went on to say this time round he was looking for the performance, but the result would be the most important thing.

'So let`s put a good performance in, but let`s go there a little bit steely-eyed again, very professional, and come back with the points. That`s what we want. We want to go and underline the fact that we are moving forward and we are growing together as a squad. But you underline that by showing the people who only see you on a match day what we are about. If we do that it will really put us in a good place to kick on, and that`s what I want. I want us to underline the positive strides we are making on a daily basis here by going and putting it onto the football pitch.'

One thing Murty wanted to see this weekend was a continuation of our ruthlessness in recent times in front of goal, but he knew it would be a tough battle despite their recent form.

'It`s always tight, it`s always difficult and a hard place to go and play as well. The pitch is a leveller at times. We saw Aberdeen go and play there earlier on in the year and put in a really good performance and not get anything. So we know that performances need to be backed up by results, but we are in no doubt as to the challenge coming up.'

He added.

'Any time we roll into town people seem to go up 10 percent which is fine and it`s what we have to deal with. We`re getting better at dealing with that but we have to understand our method of counteracting them at every second, because a moment`s lapse, a moment`s lack of concentration, a moment of slackness, can really scupper what we try to do. We have to be virtually perfect for 90 minutes so let`s accept that challenge and really enjoy that challenge. If we are virtually perfect it means that what we are doing on a daily basis is working and I really relish that challenge and relish the prospect of having that over us all the time. That will really see if our players are capable of going to the next level.'
