Cummings Concentrating On More Goals

Cummings Concentrating On More Goals

Nottingham Forest loanee Jason Cummings has spoken of his delight at finding the net in the Scottish Cup tie against Ayr United, but he was disappointed he couldn't at least double his goal return in the game.

Playing his part in the fightback to secure a six one victory at Somerset Park, 22 year old Cummings told the Official Site that although he was pleased to get his second club goal on the day, he was slightly frustrated he couldn't get himself a brace or a hattrick to improve his return further.

'I just wanted to score when I had the chance, I didn`t think it was coming so I thought I`ll get one and I actually wanted more, I wasn`t happy. The celebration was a bit of a fool; I just saw a wee toilet roll and launched it! It didn`t spin out though it just got launched but I`ll take it!'

Partnering Alfredo Morelos up front for the first time in the game, he felt that they both worked together well and that it certainly becomes an option for manager Graeme Murty moving forward.

'It was good playing with Alfredo; I think we worked well together. It was our first game so it is only going to get better as time goes on and he got a couple of goals as well so it was all good. Josh was good today as well and chipped in with a couple of goals so I thought as a front three we played decent, especially the second-half. We are all starting to build a good relationship.'

Having fallen behind in the game, Cummings admitted we found the first half tough but he felt the squad deserved credit for their reaction and performance levels in the second period.

'The boys are happy to be in the next round, which was the main thing coming here. I thought it was kind of a game of two halves, first-half we weren`t at our best and fair play to them, they made it hard for us and they got their goal. They made it a bit sticky for us and we came out second-half the Rangers team that we are trying to be more like. It is the team I see in training every day and that is what we need to be like more often - I thought second-half we were brilliant.'

He added.

'It is there, it is just being a bit more consistent. You saw the chances we created, we could of had more and the goals we scored were some nice goals. The play was good and at the end of the day it is all positive. I would like a home tie, it doesn`t really matter who we get because we will concentrate on us and the boys, that`s all that matters.'
