Aberdeen Reject McInnes Approach
As was speculated yesterday, Rangers have now in fact approached Aberdeen for the services of manager Derek McInnes but our official approach was rebuffed.
On Tuesday evening Aberdeen received our approach for permission to talk, including a £1million compensation package for both McInnes and assistant Tony Docherty, but that was knocked back even though McInnes apparently expressed a desire to talk.
In any event McInnes is set to hold talks with Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne later today to discuss the situation.
A brief statement released by Aberdeen read.
'Aberdeen Football Club has announced this evening that Rangers have contacted the Club asking for permission to speak to Derek McInnes and that permission has been refused.'
McInnes and Docherty are contracted at Pittodrie until 2020 having signed new deals over the summer and it's said they were absent from training this morning.
