Dorrans Delighted With Motherwell Debut

Dorrans Delighted With Motherwell Debut

Summer signing Graham Dorrans was a delighted man at the full time whistle in Sunday's Premiership opener against Motherwell.

Having helped himself to a brace at Fir Park with a goal in each half, speaking to the Official Site as he held his own round of post game interviews with the media, he admitted it had been a moment he'd been dreaming of growing up as a fan.

'It was a good debut, it is always nice to get a couple of goals but it was more important to get the three points. We spoke before the game and we stressed how important it was to get off to a good start and I thought we did that. Overall I am delighted. It was great for me personally; it is something I have always dreamed of since I was a kid so to come here and get a goal in my first game is great.'

Dorrans went on to say that he didn't feel any nerves when he lined up to take the penalty.

'There weren`t really any nerves when I went to take the penalty, Josh came in and wanted to take it but Helder Baptista spoke to me before the game and said I was to take it. I hope I`m on penalties from now on! For as long as I can keep putting the ball in the back of the net then I am sure I will be.'

Speaking briefly about the game overall.

'We played really well in the first-half without finding the killer pass, I thought we lacked that in the final third but we are a new team and we have new players in there so I am sure that will come.'

What matters now is showing further improvement and taking more control of the games to come, but finishing our chances and that hopefully begins with Dunfermline in the League Cup in midweek.

'I think that clinical touch will come, we have a new team and we will keep working hard and take it from there. It was a difficult game for us but we managed to hang on in the end. I thought we controlled it in the first-half, we played some nice stuff and there are a lot of positives to take forward. We are going to go back onto the training field now and we have a game on Wednesday in the cup to work on it again.'
