It was only a fifth win at Fir Park for Motherwell this season, a 10th in total, but Tuesday's 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock was enough to ensure Premiership football for Well next season. Killie, a place higher in eighth, should end the campaign ahead of their hosts.
Despite twice being pegged back Ross County's added time winner saw them to a 3-2 victory over struggling Hamilton. Defeat for second-bottom Academical meant the battle to avoid automatic relegation to the Championship would go to the final day of the season if bottom-side Inverness Caledonian Thistle won on Wednesday, which they did.
Dundee, already safe from the threat of relegation, slipped to a first defeat under Neil McCann as basement side Inverness kept alive their hopes of avoiding an automatic drop. Caledonian Thistle's 2-0 win took them to within a point of second-bottom Hamilton Academical - one of these two sides will definitely be relegated and the other in the relegation play-off game.
Having previously been beaten at Ibrox by Celtic this season, Rangers suffered a first home defeat against Aberdeen since 1991 - the second-placed Dons recording a 2-1 victory in the Gers' final game of the season at Ibrox.
Fourth-placed St Johnstone's third win in four saw the Saints move 12 points Hearts, fifth, after a 1-0 victory. The Jambos by contrast are now five without a win and have lost the last three.
