Caixinha Pleased With Aberdeen Effort

Caixinha Pleased With Aberdeen Effort

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has praised the effort of the team in taking victory over Aberdeen on Sunday.

Heading to Pittodrie for the game, Rangers took a three nil victory with Kenny Miller grabbing a brace before Joe Dodoo added the third, and Caixinha knew that with Wes Foderingham making a number of critical saves across the game, whilst some players could be picked out for their individual efforts, it was very much a team performance in his eyes.

Speaking to the Official Site in his post game press conference, he explained.

'Before Kenny`s goals Wes made a fantastic save and all the players were committed, they knew exactly what they needed to do in each moment of the game. Kenny did great, the first goal was fantastic but Wes also made a fantastic save, it was brilliant work from the defensive line, brilliant work from the midfield line and the team as a whole was present today on the pitch. The boys need big congratulations today because they did everything that we planned for the match. The players always need to have this winning passion and that sacrifice when it`s needed.'

With the three nil victory being the biggest win over Aberdeen in nearly a decade, Caixinha also praised the travelling fans for their support on the day.

'Without fans we are nothing so we are very happy for them as well. We play with the same passion that they are giving us so we just need to give the same back and it was really important to celebrate at the end with them.'

Danny Wilson was also speaking briefly following the game and for him he felt the win would be the confidence shot that everyone needed to end the season strongly now.

'It feels great. We came here with a game-plan to sit in and try and hit them on the counter-attack. For long periods of the game, it was difficult, but in the first half, I thought we created a few good chances but didn`t take them, and we had a few chances against us that maybe on another day would have gone in. I thought we did really well to punish them at the right times, and it is great to come away from here and a great feeling going back down the road. Hopefully now we can have a platform for the rest of the season.'

Wilson went on to add.

'We had said coming into the game if we had any hope of finishing second then we would have to win. We have done that now, and obviously we still have to play them again at Ibrox and hopefully we can get another three points there. All we can do is just win our games and come the end of the season, hopefully it will be enough.'
