Johansson's Rangers Role Officially Confirmed

Rangers have announced the return of former striker Jonatan Johansson as assistant to Pedro Caixinha.

Johansson, following the victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday, was confirmed in his role having fended off competition from fellow former Rangers players Barry Ferguson, John Brown, Kevin Thomson and Alex Rae, all interviewed recently.

The former Finnish international, Johansson has been assisting the national side, joins up with Caixinha's other assistant Helder Baptista, fitness coach Pedro Malta and goalkeeper coach Jose Belman in the new look coaching set up at Ibrox.

Johansson scored 25 goals in his 71 appearances for Rangers between 1997-2000. The former striker, capped 106 times by Finland, previously returned to Scotland for spells with Hibernian and St Johnstone, taking on a coaching role with Motherwell's U20 side for three years from 2012.

Confirming the appointment of Johansson, 41, the club released a statement on the Official Website.
