McCoist - Win Was For The Fans
Manager Ally McCoist has said that he was delighted after our second half comeback against Sacramento Republic, and the said the victory was the right result for the fans who he acknowledged as being fantastic on the day.
Having gone a goal behind at the end of the first period, Rangers battled back well and scored a leveller quickly after the restart through Darren McGregor and then Ian Black giving us the win at the death.
Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer explained.
'I'm happy with the result for a lot of the supporters who have travelled. We had a fantastic support at the game. We had guys and girls coming up from Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Texas. They came from all over the place including down from Vancouver too.'
McCoist goes on to say that obviously it's pre season and the results don't matter as much as the fitness elements and the style of play and form starting to come together, but he knows after some disappointing results and showings so far, this result and the way we came back in the second half will be a huge boost for everyone.
'You can say what you like, but you want to give them (fans) a level of performance and a result. We certainly did that in the second half, but we were slow to get going again in the first half. We were miles better in the second half though.'
The gaffer went on to say that he felt our change in fortunes was certainly helped by bringing on Darren McGregor because he really led from the back in terms of winning the aerial challenges, and he feels that in turn helped Marius Zaliukas, who was definitely improved in the second period also.
