Simonsen Signs New One Year Deal

Simonsen Signs New One Year Deal

Following the expiry of his initial contract at the club this summer, goalkeeper Steve Simonsen has now penned a further 12 month deal with us.

Simonsen will continue to provide back up to Cammy Bell between the sticks, and the 35 year old has admitted that he did have interest and offers from other clubs where he could've been a guaranteed number one to take up this offer with us.

Speaking to the Official Site, he said.

'I had a lot of other teams getting in contact and it was a little bit like buses this summer. A few in England and Scotland got in touch but as soon as the manger expressed his interest in bringing me back here again it was a non competition. This was the only place I wanted to come to and there's massive appeal here because I thoroughly enjoyed it at Rangers last season.'

Since joining Rangers last September, he has so far made only three appearances, two of which came in the league.
