Daly Set For Specialist Visit

Daly Set For Specialist Visit

Rangers have booked a visit to a specialist for striker Jon Daly as they bid to get to the bottom of a knee injury that has ruled him out of our Northern Tour.

The Irish striker struggled with a knee injury towards the end of last season and it was thought that some good rest over the summer would correct the problem. However, having now returned to training Daly has continued to feel not right in the area, so a specialist will be tasked to find some answers.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Ally McCoist explained.

'Jon has been feeling his knee over a couple of days in training and he felt it towards the end of last season as well. He is going for a scan and once we get the results from that we'll be in a better position and place to give more information.'

McCoist says that last season, with no obvious cause for the problem, everybody agreed it was most likely a fatigue issue, but clearly that doesn't look to be the case with it rearing its head again.

'That was certainly the case at the start of pre season but after two or three days he could feel a niggle. Our physio and the doc felt a scan was the best idea to put everyone's mind at rest and hopefully it's nothing too serious.'

As for the other player who has missed out on travel, David Templeton is also carrying a knee problem, but McCoist has explained that they believe it's a short term problem and he expects the winger to be back in action shortly.

'Temps went over on the ball last Thursday and had a twinge at the back of his knee. He didn't train Friday, Saturday or Monday so we decided to leave him behind.'

The gaffer adds since then he's been getting some treatment and he's already back doing some work with Jamie Ramsden and Gordon Durie to play catch up.
