Manager Ally McCoist has revealed that he will be meeting CEO Graham Wallace on Monday to discuss his transfer budget for next season now that the club finished and released the business review that was instigated.
Speaking to the Official Site McCoist confirmed that he would obviously be looking to strengthen over the summer as he knows we need to continue to improve because next season will be a lot tougher than what we have faced in the last few years.
'I'll be right in on Monday morning with a view to planning, changing and hopefully bringing in boys who will help the squad. We're looking to strengthen ahead of what will be a very tough campaign next season.'
The gaffer adds that in chats had so far with Wallace he's expecting the budget to be roughly similar to what he had this season, so for him having had that indication he knows he can juggle a few things around and make 'one or two changes' but he didn't want to say too much more at this stage until he'd had the formal chat with the CEO and then informed his staff of potential plans.
'It's going to be difficult, and a lot of the teams are full time which would suggest it will be harder. We anticipate a tough campaign but we're really looking forward to it.'
Having faced three Championship side this campaign, McCoist knows what our current crop are capable of as we obviously beat Queen of the South in the Ramsdens, got a decent result at Falkirk, but then fell against Raith Rovers in the final, so he does know that tweaks need to be made to give us that extra edge against opposition of that quality.
Obviously the announcement of this meeting came as McCoist was talking following the victory over Stranraer and the gaffer also took the opportunity to praise for the fans for their backing over the past few years.
'The fans have been unbelievable, they've shown in the last couple of years just what the club means to them all. Individually and collectively as a support, they've been quite incredible.'
