McCoist Not Concerned Following Arbroath Win

Manager Ally McCoist has said he doesn't feel there is any need for concern following a very disappointing showing in the second half in today's game against Arbroath.

With some big games coming up, namely the Ramsdens Cup final and then the Scottish Cup clash against Dundee United already on the horizon, that gaffer has told the Official Site that going from worthy winners in the first half today, to being extremely lucky in the second half is just something that happens in football so he's not going to panic or get carried away as headlines will be full of performance talk again.

Rangers could've had a greater margin at the half time break but we didn't take our chances, but Arbroath came back strongly and we struggled with them in the second period but thankfully ended up getting the decisive winning goal.

'I was disappointed with the dip we had after half time but not in relation to our forthcoming games. They will look after themselves. The boys will be ready for them too. Our general play was a bit disappointing in the second half, but we have 29 wins and two draws in 31 league games so we're doing great.'

McCoist goes on to say that despite the disappointments in the games, there were positives for him as he credited those players who came into the team for looking lively and putting a shift in even though he knows everybody can do better than that.

'Peralta put himself about, and I thought Hutton was solid enough. Clark did fine too. There were some good performances from the lads who came in, that's what you need when you're making changes to your team. You often wonder what the reaction will be and in that respect, a lot of the boys did themselves no harm.'

Ahead of the game plenty of the talk was about players putting themselves into the frame for the non league games we have coming up now, so on that point the gaffer seems relatively pleased still and is looking bigger picture.
