Draw Was Not Embarrassing
Manager Ally McCoist has said that he feels it would be disrespectful to Albion Rovers if people described our draw with them in the quarter finals of the Scottish Cup as being an embarrassing result.
Speaking to the Official Site following the draw that will now see us in a replay to decide our continuance or not, the gaffer explained.
'It doesn't matter if I think it's harsh or not, I think it's disrespectful to Albion Rovers who knocked Motherwell out of the Cup. As I keep saying I think people are maybe getting carried away with where our club is at this moment in time and the team. I think it's highly disrespectful of people to say that and I'm certainly not going to say it.'
McCoist goes on to say that having gone behind he did think it was a good reaction from the players to keep plugging away in their efforts to get back into the game because he felt it was very important we didn't panic or creep into our shell, especially given recent performances and struggles, and they stood up well to the challenge and finally got the goal he felt we deserved on the day.
Despite a mass of chances ultimately we didn't do enough to get the win on the day, but we did enough to earn a second shot at it in the manager's mind and now we have to make sure that we make that second chance count.
He did add however that their opener he felt was very disappointing from a defensive perspective, and it will be looked at during training to ensure we see no repeat.
