McCoist Pleased With Arbroath Response

McCoist Pleased With Arbroath Response

Manager Ally McCoist has said although he was disappointed to see Rangers go behind twice in the game against Arbroath, he was pleased with the response of the players.

Speaking to the Official Site McCoist also had praise for McCulloch who put behind him his part in their second goal, when he stepped up to the spot to clinch the win for us.

'If I'm going to be fair, there were two or three things before Lee went in for his missed tackle at the second goal I wasn't too pleased about. Defensively we were all over the place there. Big Bilel knocked the ball inside and that was the initial problem. I can guarantee you we'll be looking at the two goals we lost on Monday morning when we meet for training.'

McCoist adds that when the penalty was awarded, there was only going to be one taker, and McCulloch has been massive for us again this season, so despite the earlier error, he feels he more than atoned for it by the end of the game.

For those keeping track, Rangers can now officially win the league by March 15th if we win our next six games, and we could find ourselves given the title earlier than that if Dunfermline slip up again.

Having dropped only two points all campaign so far, and having won 21 of our 22 league matches, McCoist couldn't be more pleased with the efforts of the players and the sooner we can clinch the title and promotion the better, but there are areas of our play that need improvement at the moment to give us the best chance possible of doing just that.

The gaffer also had praise for David Templeton again for his performance, and McCoist is very pleased to see him showing the talent and consistency he knows he's capable of having now fully recovered from his injuries.
