McCoist - We Earnt That Victory

Manager Ally McCoist has said that he felt Rangers more than deserved their win against Airdrie tonight.

Speaking to the Official Site following the testy one nil victory thanks to a goal from Lewis Macleod after 18 minutes, the gaffer explained that whilst our performance was unfortunately far from our best, we dug in, we dealt with what they threw at us - in all respects - and battled away to keep them out of the match as the game closed to an end.

'In the last 10 or so minutes they put us under quite a bit of pressure. But I have to say I think my team deserved to win the game. If not out of sight, we should certainly have been in a more comfortable position after an hour or so, but when you don't do that, you run the risk of the opposition throwing people forward. It's a great three points for us away from home and it's deserved too.'

McCoist went on to praise Macleod for his overall performances of late, and admitted that he was unfortunately taken off because he felt his calf so the hope is it will only be a bit of tightness and cramp rather than anything more severe because as well as grabbing the winner today, he obviously set up Nicky Law for his goal in our last match, so his levels have been pleasing recently and the gaffer doesn't want an injury to get in the way of that.

Nicky Clark himself added on the official site that the team accept they weren't at their best during the game, but it was a good victory and a good battling performance as ultimately over the course of the season you do have to win ugly at points and the experience again will be good for the team as they continue to develop,
