Manager Ally McCoist has admitted our performance against Ayr was hardly anything to shout about, but making it 20 wins on the trot should trump that.
Rangers ran out three nil winners thanks to goals from Daly, Aird and Mohsni but the gaffer was pretty honest in his assessment when talking to the Official Site following the game, because there was no denying that we didn't really play that well over the 90 minutes, but we did still get the result we wanted.
For the gaffer the fact that we still won pretty convincingly thanks to our first half performance and going into the break at two nil, means for him he can't be too critical about the showing in the second 45 because we still managed to do enough to keep them out, and then add a third ourselves.
'I won't lie, I was a little bit frustrated during the second half but we've had time to sit down, have a cup of tea and wee think abuot it since then. The boys have been great and once again, deserve enormous credit for what was a comfortable 3-0 victory.'
Without making too many excuses for the drop off in the second half, McCoist says he believes the players thought it was job done at half time and that's perhaps why they stepped of the gas a little, and whilst it wasn't necessarily complacency sneaking in, it was more about protecting what we had and taking it a little bit easier given how we've had to battle in previous games where our break through has only come in the second half of matches.
With that said, McCoist admits it's his job to keep the players on their toes and he reminds them that at 2-0 a game is never over because one goal is all it takes to completely upset what previously looked comfortable, and he does ultimately want us to score as many goals as possible, so he is disappointed that we weren't as direct as we could've been and that the tempo was off, but given what the squad have achieved so far this campaign a bad 45 minutes is somewhat forgiveable and he doesn't feel he can be that critical - I'm assuming with the caveat that it doesn't happen again or become a regular occurrence.
