Manager Ally McCoist has said he feels it would've been an injustice had Rangers not progressed in the Scottish Cup given our performance against Falkirk.
The win was certainly a long time coming for the normally free scoring side, and fans had to wait until the final two minutes - despite our domination of the game - for us to secure our two goal lead.
Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer explained.
'I don't think there's any doubt we deserved to go through and I've just said that to the lads. I'm pleased with the way we performed. I know Falkirk went down to 10 men and I hope not too much is made of that, it probably affected us as well. It was to our detriment a little because I thought we lost our way. We kept going though.'
Ally admits there was a little bit of disappointment at the number of chances we spurned to go ahead, but he did feel confident that if the players kept doing the right things then eventually the break would come for us and thankfully it did.
In some ways McCoist knows he can take the positives from such a victory late in the day because it shows the mental strength of the players to keep plugging away now, and it also shows that all the fitness work that has been thrust on them is definitely proving its worth now as he adds that in fitness terms, there is a world of difference to our levels last season and that in itself is very pleasing.
As for the fifth round of the Cup, Rangers will now host either Ayr United or Dunfermline in the final 16.
The game is currently set to take place on February 8th but that may be subject to change, and ticket details will be announced in due course by the club.
We will find out our eventual opponents following their replay on Wednesday.
Responding to the draw, the gaffer said.
'All I asked of our former striker was a home tie and we're delighted he's given us that. I couldn't be any happier. You can't pick and choose who you get, but all you can ask for is to be drawn at home.'
