Goalkeeper Cammy Bell has admitted he needs to approach games differently now he's at Rangers, as he has to keep himself alert when he doesn't have a lot to do.
Whilst that is a huge compliment to our defence, Bell admits he knew it would be different when he joined the club as he was used to having to pull off ten or so saves in a game, whereas generally at Rangers he goes long periods with nothing to do and then has to pull off one or two extremely key saves during 90 minutes.
With that difference he says he believes he's improved in other aspects of goalkeeping, such as organising a defence, learning to read the game at a different pace and so on.
Speaking to the Official Site he explained.
'When I came to the club I knew it would be completely different, it's tough because you need to concentrate on the full 90 minutes and hopefully keep the clean sheet.'
In other goalkeeper news, Ally McCoist has also given an interview where he said he sees no reason why Cammy can't push himself back into the Scotland international squad if he keep performing as he has been.
Bell has been called up a number of times, but made only one appearance back in 2010 against the Faroe Islands, and McCoist sees no reason whatsoever why he can't add to that as he continues to grow with Rangers.
'Cammy has been terrific since he came in, the one thing about Gordon (Strachan) is that he's picked Lee (Wallace) in his squads and played him so it certainly wouldn't be a major surprise to me if Cammy fought his way back in, far from it.'
In light of what Bell talked about above, McCoist agrees and thinks that shows his quality on the pitch because in many ways it's easier for a goalkeeper to look good when shots are being pinged at him, but you see a goalkeepers true focus and ability when they have to keep themselves alive for those few key moments in games when they will be called upon, even if they could've spent the previous 85 minutes sitting on a deckchair behind the goal.
