Ally McCoist has talked about the postponement of the game against Dunfermline on October 12, and it's also been confirmed when the clash will now take place.
Speaking to the Official Site the gaffer confirmed that he was as disappointed as everyone with the cancellation of the league game against Dunfermline but he would've been failing in his role as manager of the club if he hadn't requested that the game take place on a new date.
Rangers potentially could've been without up to 12 players for the encounter on October 12, and that simply wasn't a risk he was willing to take against a team who sit only five points behind us in second place in the league.
It's not so much about not trusting or having belief in those who would've stepped up to the breach, it's about being sensible and using our strongest squad in games where we will need them.
So whilst he apologised to fans for what will now be a wasted weekend, he trusts they will understand his motivation.
'It's my priority to look after the team and get the best results for the team and indeed for the supporters. There is absolutely no one more disappointed than me that the game is off, but we just felt we have a lot more players on international duty than one or two think. We've got the possibility that 12 players could be away. I'm not doing my job if I don't give Rangers the best opportunity to win, particularly against a team second to us in the league.'
The date for the rearranged game has now been set, and the match against Dunfermline will now take place on Wednesday November 6th.
Kick off will be at 7.45pm.
However, it may be subject to change again if Rangers are drawn at home in the third round of the Scottish Cup, which takes place next Monday afternoon.
